Julia Lang

If I had to choose a handful of words to describe my work, they'd be: colourful, quirky, tactile, expressive and nostalgic. I work mainly with textiles, using them to produce both practical objects and art pieces.

Inspiration often comes from the fabrics themselves, other sources include; folk art, memories, nature, mid 20th century design, as well as the everyday things I see around my home. No matter what I'm making, I love playing around with colours to express a mood or feeling.

Although I’ve lived in the Lothians for many years, I grew up in Fife and was delighted to be invited to show my work at Round the Horn. It will be a great pleasure to be back in Kinghorn, with a selection of handmade accessories, both to wear and for the home, one-of-a-kind textile-art creatures, plus new artwork from my current 100 Envelopes Project.
